The Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2010 conference “Behavior - Start to Finish”. We are very excited to be holding this conference at the Oquendo Center in Las Vegas, NV which has been designed specifically with conferences like ours in mind.
If you are looking for information on how to get started in behavior, what your role is in providing behavior services and how to improve your hands on training skills this is where you need to be! Attendees will have a unique experience that includes presentations by members of the Academy of Veterinary Behavior Technicians and hands on learning opportunities. Exclusive access to credentialed technicians actively providing behavior services in the practice setting and working with veterinary behaviorists ensures that what you learn, you can do!
Who are the speakers?
Let’s just say they’re people you really want to see for this price! Terry Ryan of Legacy Canine will be running our learning theory and chicken sessions. Dr. Sophia Yin will be covering pharmacology in addition to a couple other topics on day one. Our own SVBT members Monique Feyrecilde, LVT, Marcia Ritchie, LVT, CPDT-KA, VTS-Behavior, Sherrie Yuschak, RVT, and Ginny Price, CVT, VTS-Behavior will be covering the topics in between. We combined the talents of those in general practice and specialty practice to give you practical skills you can take home and use!
Who can register?
Registration for the conference is open to technicians, assistants, veterinarians and pet trainers. Please complete one registration form per attendee.
Why do you need my email address for registration?
To keep costs low, mailings will be kept to a minimum and email will be used to provide registrants with pre-conference information. If you do not have an email address please indicate this on your registration form.
How do I get to the facility once I arrive in Las Vegas?
There is a free shuttle available to the Hampton Inn from MacCaran International Airport (http://www.mccarran.com/). Other ground transportation is also readily available and costs vary.
Where are we staying?
The official hotel is the Hampton Inn & Suites, Las Vegas Airport. This is the closest hotel to the Oquendo Center. SVBT has arranged a block of rooms for attendees at a discounted rate of $79 per night.
To book your room please call 1-800-Hampton or 702-647-8000 and let them know you are with the SVBT. This room block will be available ONLY through 8/19/2010 when any un-booked rooms will be released from our reserved block. Attendees are responsible for their own housing during the conference.
How do we get to the Oquendo Center?
A daily shuttle will be provided to and from the hotel in the morning and again at the end of the day. Please check your conference materials for times/locations.
What about meals?
Lunch on Friday and Saturday is included in your conference registration and will be held at the Oquendo Center. There will be a dinner reception at the Center Friday night to welcome you to the conference. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs prior to the conference.
There are restraunts in the area which deliver to the hotel and can be reached quickly via taxi.
Friday Night Reception
This will be a casual affair but bring some cash - it’s Vegas! We will be raffling off some really amazing things including a scholarship to one of Terry Ryan’s chicken camps!!
CE Credits Anyone?
We are currently seeking CE credits in Nevada and looking into what is involved with obtaining RACE CE credits. We will also be applying for CEU’s for those maintaining their CPDT-KA certifications. If credits are given hour for hour we will receive 18 CEU’s.
