Board Member Responsibilities

Past-President:
The Past-President serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors and SVBT's membership.

President:
The President creates meeting agendas and presides at meetings including the annual general meeting. The President also appoints Chairpersons for committees and monitors committee progress.

Other duties include:

  • Informing the Board of Directors and the Committee Chairperson of SVBT operations and activities
  • Acting as a spokes person for SVBT
  • Promoting SVBT through publications and speeches
  • Monitoring and making sure SVBT stays within the annual proposed budget
  • Appointing liaison between associations

President - Elect:
The President - Elect serves as President in the temporary absence of the President and has responsibilities at the annual meeting including the continuing education program. The President-Elect cooperates in promotional activities, particularly in the relationship of student members.
Upon incapacitation of the Treasurer, the President-Elect signs checks for SVBT.
Secretary - Recording:
The Recording Secretary records minutes at all meetings of the Board of Directors including the annual general meeting. The Recording Secretary also maintains a file of committee meetings. It is the responsibility of the Recording Secretary to maintain an accurate database of SVBT members. The Recording and Corresponding Secretaries will assist each other.

Secretary - Corresponding:
The Corresponding Secretary is responsible for the correspondence of the Society and the Board of Directors. The Corresponding Secretary assists the Recording Secretary.
Treasurer:
The Treasurer is responsible for keeping an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements for the SVBT accounts. The treasurer is also responsible for supplying the Recording and Corresponding Secretaries with regular new member information.
Members at Large:
The Members at Large act as voting members on the Board of Directors and serve on the membership committee.
